The Book Club - 10-Year Anniversary Special: Favorite Discoveries 2025-2026 (April 12, 2026)

Florence & The Machine's "What The Water Gave Me" was Jess's favorite discovery from the past year.

"Christ almighty, 10 years?! That went by VERY fast. It feels like yesterday this was still a baby show. I appreciate all the thank yous I have been getting for starting this show and continuing with it for the last decade, but I want to thank YOU for supporting me and always showing up for me, which really means a lot, especially given the show’s origins. I fell into a depression in early 2016 due to relationship issues, and I had a mental breakdown in March of that year while visiting Austin, Texas. I started the Book Club a month later and between the bangin' discoveries like "Sniper", the token bad songs like "Once You Understand", and the camaraderie that developed within the M4B Radio community, my mental health improved significantly.

This was also around the time I started becoming more distant from the Nope and Slutoris group, and I was spending more time with family and developing friendships with my co-workers at Stein Mart. All of this, plus the M4B Radio community, really helped me learn who I am as a person and helped me find myself. Not to mention, it also unlocked my ultra secret boy crazy side - looking at you - Chris Cornell, Jerry Cantrell, and Gord Downie!

People can say what they want about me, they can have their own narrative that makes them look angelic, they can be stuck in the past and view me the way I was 20 years ago, but at the end of the day I know in my heart that I have grown up into a better person who knows exactly who she is - a compassionate, loyal friend and a music lover who is passionate for her faves, whether it be artists I loved from day one like Alanis Morissette, or new faves like Florence & The Machine, or of course Grace Slick, the queen of music. Duh!

Thank you so much for 10 years of the Book Club, and I am so proud to have gotten friendship right with our current station community - Kim, Michael, Bry, Julian, and Bill. And of course my Minnie who I spent countless hours listening to the station with and recorded Book Club episodes with her. I miss you every single day my sweet baby girl, I love you so much."
