Tonight the Jessica's Top 40 Countdown aired it's final episode after 16 years. The show debuted on Variety FM 104 on July 23, 2004 with Ashlee Simpson's hit "Pieces Of Me" at #1. Since then, the show has become not just a countdown show, but a variety show that the show's host Jessica and producer Michael have referred to as "Saturday Night Live meets American Top 40", with recurring skits such as Making Kanye Mad, Text To Speech Bop, and The Complayning Minute with Complayn Malik. Tonight's show included all three of those segments, as well as goodbye messages from Jessica, Michael, and the station's other DJs Bryan, Adam, and Kim. The final JT40 Countdown #1 was Chris Cornell's posthumous cover of the 1989 Guns N' Roses hit, "Patience", which was released on Monday. You can listen to the show here!

Ashlee Simpson had the first JT40 Countdown #1 in July 2004 with "Pieces Of Me". Exactly 16 years later, Chris Cornell has the countdown show's final #1 with "Patience".
